Ottawa 2017 celebrations soar higher with Porter

Ottawa – The Ottawa 2017 Bureau and Mayor Jim Watson, in collaboration with lead partner CIBC, are thrilled to welcome Porter Airlines as the Official Canadian Airline for Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations in the nation’s capital.

“We’re extremely proud to have Porter, a highly regarded Canadian company, partner with Ottawa 2017,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “This partnership will enable us to share the festive spirit of our country’s 150th anniversary celebrations with air travellers throughout Canada and in the U.S.”

“As the nation’s capital, Ottawa will be at the center of celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “Porter proudly embodies the modernity and founding spirit of Canada, so this partnership is a perfect fit for us.”

Porter will provide flights for artists, contests and promotions, as well as collaborate with Ottawa 2017 on pageantry items at the Ottawa International Airport and other marketing initiatives. Additionally, the airline company will add the Ottawa 2017 logo to the exterior of all of its aircraft and two planes in the Porter fleet will have their tails wrapped with the colourful look of the celebration.

“CIBC welcomes Porter Airlines on board as an Ottawa 2017 partner,” said Monique Giroux, Vice-President, Sponsorship Marketing & Strategic Partnerships, CIBC. “We look forward to working hand-in-hand with Porter’s award-winning team as they bring travellers to our nation’s capital and beyond to celebrate CIBC and Canada’s shared 150th.”

“We’re very excited to work with a company like Porter that shares our values of excellence in customer service,” said Guy Laflamme, Executive Director of the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. “Through creative marketing initiatives, such as aircraft decals and featuring the Ottawa 2017 logo on planes, our partnership with Porter will help promote Canada’s 150th anniversary across the country and will offer Canadians an opportunity to connect with each other and share the celebrations.”

Canada’s 150th celebrations will offer Canadians and visitors from around the world an exceptional and memorable year of exciting experiences while bringing a record number of visitors to Ottawa in 2017 to celebrate this important milestone for our country.

Ottawa 2017 thanks our lead partner CIBC, premier partner Bell, the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada for their contributions in helping to deliver twelve full months of bold events, immersive experiences and all-out celebrations.
