Attending the event? Please take a look at the Q & As to see how to make the most out of your Picnic on the Bridge experience!

On July 2, 2017, residents and visitors from both sides of the Ottawa River will come together to enjoy a Canadian first: an Interprovincial Picnic on the Alexandra Bridge.

The Picnic on the Bridge will be a breathtaking and memorable way to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, as the historic Royal Alexandra Bridge will be transformed into a lush green haven, where families and friends can picnic on the grass and enjoy majestic views of the Ottawa River.

The event which will feature entertainment, samplings from Ace Bakery, special giveaways and one of the most breathtaking views in the region.

While we are thrilled and humbled that the popularity of the event caused it to sell out rapidly, we sincerely apologize to everyone who wasn’t able to purchase tickets. We are planning a full year of family-friendly activities for 2017, therefore there will many more opportunities for residents and visitors to take part in these once-in-a-lifetime celebrations.

The Ottawa 2017 Bureau and City of Gatineau gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Public Works and Government Services Canada in making the Alexandra Bridge available for this exceptional event, inspired by a similar successful program done in Sydney, Australia.

The sod for this event is being donated by Manderley Turf Products Inc., a Canadian leader in lawn and garden products. Following the picnic, the sod will be re-used on other community projects.
