 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play video games outside, projected in epic proportions?

From November 13 to 18, a Canadian Videogame Competition & Expo is coming to Ottawa for an exciting week-long event! Students, Ottawa residents and visitors will have the chance to test their gaming skills in a fun and interactive environment, while also learning about new and existing locally-based game companies.

Gamers are invited to join this FREE two-part event:

  • From November 13 to 17, in different locations across the city, get the chance to play new games from Nintendo including Splatoon 2, ARMS and Super Mario Odyssey.
  • On November 18, register for an open bracket tournament featuring Rocket League and FIFA 18, plus check out locally developed games.


November 13 – 14 > Carleton University (Mackenzie Building Courtyard) from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

November 15 – 16 > University of Ottawa (University Square) from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

November 17 > ByWard Market (Bell Media parking lot at 66 York Street) from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m

November 18 > Makerspace North from 11 a.m.  to 10 p.m. (expo ends at 6 p.m.)

Event details

November 13 to 17 

Open registration on site (limited capacity, first come first served). Come play and have fun! It’s FREE! Rain or Shine.

Nintendo is a key partner for this exciting event! Each night this week, visitors will have the opportunity to play 3 new games: Splatoon 2, ARMS and Super Mario Odyssey. One of these games will be the basis for our friendly nightly competition, giving contestants a chance to win great exciting prizes.

Don’t miss your chance to win cool stuff throughout the week from PORTER, VIA RAIL AND ROOTS! Each night, the top 3 scoring players will win prizes. (must be on site to accept prize)

November 18

Open sign-up online prior to the event. Registration is FREE!

A maximum of 64 teams for Rocket league and 128 players for FIFA will compete in an open bracket Best of three double-elimination tournament at the Makerspace North for a $5,000 prize pool (for each game):

  • 1st: $2,500
  • 2nd: $1,500
  • 3rd: $1,000

The tournament will be played on PC for Rocket League and on PS4 for FIFA. Players will be provided with PS4 controllers, but are also free to bring their own.

**All players and teams must check-in at the registration desk on Saturday by 11:00 a.m.**

On November 18, come and see what local companies are up to and how important Ottawa’s game development industry is on a global scale with a special expo about locally-based game companies.
