Tickets for Oyster Garden go on sale this Thursday

Ottawa – On September 9, celebrate Canada’s gastronomical diversity by savouring succulent oysters from five Canadian provinces in a most unexpected location! Oyster Garden will serve up a feast of oysters in a multimedia garden set on the roof of the Canadian War Museum, with magnificent views of downtown Ottawa.

Presented in collaboration with lead partner CIBC, this event is part of Ottawa 2017’s Ignite 150 program of celebrations to mark Canada’s 150th birthday in the nation’s capital. The evening will feature Shuck Me, a professional oyster shucking team made up of veritable speed demons who will open no fewer than 3,600 oysters from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and British Columbia!

Starting at 8 p.m., each of the event’s 150 guests will get to savour 20 oysters shipped directly from the four corners of the country. They will also get to enjoy three drinks—wines and cocktails prepared using Canadian products, of course. And, since the month of September marks the very beginning of the annual shellfish season, guests can expect an extremely fresh product, along with everything they need to properly enjoy the feast.

The event will also provide an opportunity to discover one of the country’s best DJs. Etienne Ozborne, who hails from the National Capital Region, will perform right on the roof of the museum. A seasoned producer and entertainer, Ozborne has performed in several countries on multiple continents, bringing his original brand of house music to the four corners of the globe.

“By offering fine food, entertainment and music, Oyster Garden aims to provide Canadians with an ideal opportunity to pursue their passion for dining, fresh products and having fun. The event will also leave guests with lasting memories of Canada’s 150th birthday,” explains Marc-Antoine Massicotte, President of Les Fondateurs.

“We’re happy that Ottawa 2017 has partnered with Les Fondateurs, an emerging local business, to offer residents and visitors this unique multi-media culinary experience,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “Oyster Garden is a great example of the innovative spirit of our region’s business community and their contribution to making Canada’s 150th birthday dynamic and memorable for all Canadians.”

“We’re proud to engage and highlight our country’s federal cultural institutions during Canada’s sesquicentennial celebrations,” said Guy Laflamme, Executive Director of the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. “Produced by Les Fondateurs, a multi-media event planning company, this Ignite 150 event will showcase a hidden-jewel rooftop terrace in unexpected and delightful ways.”
