Announcement: Canada’s Table culinary series
Top chefs from across the country pair-up with top local chefs to offer unique dining experiences
Ottawa – Ottawa 2017, in collaboration with lead partner CIBC, Restaurateur Stephen Beckta and Chef Mike Moffatt of Beckta, Play and Gezellig restaurants, along with Sheila Whyte of Thyme & Again Catering, are pleased to announce a series of culinary events as part of Canada’s Table.
As announced earlier this year, celebrity chefs from across Canada will be featured in local restaurants on the days surrounding the sold-out 1000-person, open-air table on Wellington Street. Here’s what’s on the menu to round out the four-day food adventure:
Friday, August 25, 7 p.m.
6400 Hazledean Road
NeXT Owner and Executive Chef Michael Blackie will host Chef Paul Rogalski, Culinary Director and Owner of Rouge Restaurant (Calgary, AB) to offer an eight-dish sharing menu presented in four separate waves. The capacity for this intimate dining experience in NeXT’s Four Seasons Room is 32 guests.
Price: $115.00 per person with the option to include four wine flights with dinner for $38.00 (tax and gratuity extra). Unfortunately, no allergies can be accommodated for this event.

The Wellington Gastropub
Friday, August 25, 7 p.m.
1325 Wellington Street West
Chris Deraiche Co-owner and Chef of The Wellington Gastropub, will welcome the Owner and Head Chef from Beast Restaurant (Toronto, ON), Chef Scott Vivian. Together, they will present a five-course menu, served in a communal format to 60 guests.
Price: $95.00 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Add an optional wine pairing for $35.00, or a premium wine pairing for $59.00 (plus tax and gratuity).

Beckta dining & wine bar
Monday, August 28, 6 p.m.
150 Elgin Street
At Beckta dining & wine bar, Executive Chef Mike Moffatt and Chef du Cuisine Shane Brown will be joined in the kitchen by Matthew Krizan, Executive Chef and Owner Of Mateus Bistro (Mahone Bay, NS). A four-course menu will be created and served in a communal format to 36 guests.
Price: $90.00 per person with an optional wine pairing for $45.00 (plus tax and gratuity).

In addition to the culinary series, host chefs and guest chefs participating in Canada’s Table will make a social contribution on Saturday, August 26 by sharing their skills with local charity organizations and by offering culinary demonstrations on how to prepare low-cost, healthy family meals using fresh local products. Details will be shared in the coming week.
Twenty top chefs from across the country will take part in Canada’s Table on August 27, beginning at 6 p.m. This Ottawa 2017 Signature Event, under the Ignite 150 program, will feature all-Canadian products served to guests seated at a single, 1000-person, open-air table on Wellington Street. Proceeds raised from the event will be used to aid local and national food security causes. Tickets are sold out.
Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations offers Canadians and visitors from around the world an exceptional and memorable year of high-caliber experiences while bringing a record number of visitors to Ottawa in 2017 to celebrate this important milestone for our country.
